Valley Forge Academy, Qatar is currently seeking a high-performing Head of Arabic, Islamic and
Qatari History commencing August 2022.
Valley Forge Academy, Qatar is a first. It will be the first American school in Qatar set up in
partnership with a school in the United States; and it will be the first international school in the
world to be established by Valley Forge Military Academy in Pennsylvania.
Valley Forge Academy, Qatar will open in 2022 as a partnership between Valley Forge in the USA
and the Global Studies Institute of Qatar. It will be a day school for boys aged 3-18 (Grades K-12)
The school will be located in the world-renowned Aspire Zone that will be a venue for the 2022
FIFA World Cup. The campus will comprise new construction with striking architecture matching
the ambition of the Aspire Zone. These buildings will accommodate a variety of state-of-the-art
learning environments, utilizing current high-end technologies, athletic facilities each with the
flexibility to respond to future technologies and embracing a holistic learning environment.
Valley Forge Military Academy in the USA is a world-famous school, with a rich history reaching
back almost 100 years and a remarkable alumni body. While Valley Forge Academy, Qatar will
not have a military dimension, it will be guided by the same five Cornerstones that are central to
every student’s Valley Forge experience: Academic Excellence, Character Development, Personal
Motivation, Physical Development, Leadership.
In addition to closely following the Qatari educational system, the Valley Forge Academy will
follow the Pennsylvania State Board of Education curriculum, tailored to a very different cultural
context and the distinctive Valley Forge approach. There will be a dual emphasis on independent
and collaborative learning, with the innovative use of digital technologies and pedagogies placed
alongside more traditional methodologies. The holistic learning environment will utilize teaching
and learning inside and outside the classroom. There will also be a rich landscape of curricular
extension – gifted and talented programs, community outreach and close links with universities
and research programs.
The roles:
Head of Arabic, Islamic Studies & Qatar History
❖ As the Head of Department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the
department, with responsibility for developing and implementing provision, in accordance
with the Ministry of Education regulations as well as monitoring and evaluating student
progress and achievement. You will also be a member of the Founding leadership team of
the Academy.
❖ The ideal candidate will be an innovative practitioner, and leader who will be able to develop
the team to deliver Arabic, Islamic and Qatar History in an engaging, motivating way that
builds upon current pedagogy in the International environment. You will be a role model for
the team encouraging and formulating learning that not only meets the Ministry of Education
regulations but exceeds these expectations.
❖ You will need to be able to fully converse in English to a high standard – written and spoken
and ideally have an understanding of the American Curriculum.
Arabic, Islamic Studies & Qatar History Department Teacher
❖ As a member of the Department you will work closely with the Head of the department and
other team members to implement and deliver daily the curriculum developed in accordance
with the Ministry of Education regulations.
❖ You will also be responsible for reporting and evaluating the student progress and
achievements.
❖ You must be able to demonstrate, through practical examples, how to best integrate the
delivery of the Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History curriculum with that of the Academy.
❖ You will need to be able to fully converse in English to a high standard – written and spoken
and ideally have an understanding of the American Curriculum.
