Counsellor
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
To report for duty punctually whilst maintaining a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene and adhere to the organization’s grooming standards.
To provide a friendly, courteous and professional service at all times.
To maintain good working relationships with your team members and all other departments.
To attend to training and meetings as and when required.
To comply with local legislation as required.
Provide peer support to clients through the lived experience of recovery.
Provide explanatory overview of treatment program goals and operations.
Provide counselling services to individuals and groups using mutual aid and 12 step models.
Identify any coexisting conditions or circumstances (medical, psychiatric, physical, social) that indicate the need for additional professional assessment and/or services.
Attend multidisciplinary case meetings, to plan, monitor and evaluate care.
Promote a 'recovery' based approach to care.
Perform any other work-related tasks or activities as directed by the ‘direct supervisor’.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Professional/Academic Qualifications:
Certificate or Diploma in Addiction Counselling (or equivalent) which includes clinical practice.
Eligible for licensing as a Counsellor from the Licensing Authority in the State of Qatar.
Experience:
At least Three years’ experience in counselling in a clinically supervised practice providing care for those with substance use or addiction needs.
Knowledge of clinical, addiction, mental health and psychiatry fields.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Carry a differentiated caseload and provide a high standard of evidence-based counselling service to individuals and groups within the designated caseload, using core counselling skills and appropriate assessment tools.
Demonstrable leadership skills.
Demonstrable skills in developing and providing person-centred approaches.
Ability to supervise directly and through colleagues the work of others in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale.
Fluency in Arabic and English.
